Ward is a very strong and intimidating person, yet he is very gentle when he's off the battle field. He uses a very heavy Harpoon weapon, which he throws at his enemies. He rarely misses his targets because he's so strong. He fights alongside his friends Laguna and Kiros in the Galbadian Army.
As a young adult, Ward enlisted with the Galbadian army where he served with Laguna and Kiros. Using a heavy harpoon almost as large as himself, his attacks proved very powerful and effective. In his last mission with the Galbadian Army, he gets lost together with Laguna and Kiros and accidentally end up in the Lunatic Pandora, where he loses his voice after fighting with Esthar Soldiers. After leaving the Galbadian Army he becomes a janitor in the D-District Prison, which Zell later has flashbacks about. He later moves on to better things in Esthar City. Through good and bad times Ward always carried a heart of the size of his body and valued the well-being of his friends above everything else.
